Situated on the western istrian coast, in a port that is protected from the sea by a small island of Saint Nicola. Porec has grown from a small fishing settlement into quite an alluring tourist destination. Within a beautiful bay just south of the town you’ll find a couple of very charming tourist complexes, the Green & Blue lagoons.
With its mild climate, indented coast, and beautiful beaches it has become quite a leading destination for visitors. In Poreč you can find one of the most amazing monuments of historical and cultural heritage – Euphrasian Basilica. This basilica is the only monument of cultural heritage in Istria, which will be included in the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage.
However, Porec offers to its visitors much more then the basilica. For example the old town contains many beautiful and well preserved buildings from ancient times. Porec also has a museum where a special place belongs to paintings. The most valuable part of the collection was once owned by wealthy and powerful family Carli.
