Istria is the largest Croatian (and the Adriatic) peninsula. Located on the northeastern part of the Adriatic Sea on the territory of Slovenia and Croatian (according to some Istria goes back and to Trieste). The geographic boundaries of Istria to the north is the mountain range Ćićarija, and to the east ridge of Učka.
The western coast of Istria is shallow water, and more divorced, while the eastern coast is steep and less populated. Istria is usually divided into three parts: the Red Istria (west coast), where is the predominant red-brown earth (crljenica), Gray Istria (central Istria), with the gray clay soil and White Istria (Učka slopes and the eastern part of the peninsula) because of the rocky soil .
Important cities and municipalities in Istria are Pula, Pazin, Porec, Rovinj, Umag, Labin, Buzet, Pula, Motovun, Koper, Piran, etc.
